Mother’s Day holds such a special place in my heart. As a mom of four and a labor and delivery nurse, I get to witness every day just how powerful and beautiful motherhood is — from the very first kicks to the moment a baby is finally placed into their mother’s arms.
Recently, one of my sweet followers sent me something that absolutely touched my heart: a letter she wrote to her baby bump during her very first pregnancy. It was full of so much hope, wonder, and love that I knew I had to ask her if I could share it.
With her permission, here it is — a Mother’s Day letter from a first-time mom to the tiny baby growing inside her.
Whether you’re pregnant right now or remembering what it felt like to carry your little ones, I hope this letter touches you like it touched me.
Dear Baby Bump,
Today, I’m feeling so many emotions all at once — excitement, nervousness, pure joy. I still can’t believe I get to be your mom. Every flutter, every kick reminds me that you’re really there, growing stronger every day.
My favorite thing about being pregnant with you is how connected we already are. You’re a part of me, and yet your own beautiful, mysterious little person. I love talking to you, imagining who you’ll become, and dreaming about all the moments we’ll share.
My hopes and dreams for you are simple: I hope you always feel loved. I hope you find the kind of happiness that lights you up from the inside out. I hope you never doubt that you were wanted, prayed for, and loved beyond words long before you were even born.
Something I look forward to sharing with you one day is the simple joys — bedtime stories, baking cookies, splashing in puddles after the rain. I can’t wait to watch you discover the world for the first time.
This Mother’s Day, I want you to know: you have already made me a mother. Even before I hold you in my arms, you have changed my heart forever. You are my greatest gift.
Love,
Mommy
